Axis Vistara to Magnus: is your replacement really lifetime free?

By SwipeSage

Published 2026-10-21

An Axis Vistara replacement offer may be useful to its recipient. Its value depends on the exact Magnus variant, the fee wording and the benefits the bank confirms for that person. A screenshot from another cardholder cannot establish those entitlements for you.

What Axis’s replacement terms confirm

The offer is limited to selected primary Axis Vistara cardholders and is valid only for the recipient. If a fee-related benefit applies, the first transaction must be completed within 30 days of issuance. Eligible benefits are processed within 60 days of that first spend. Benefits apply only to the first replacement card chosen under the offer. Other charges follow that card’s MITC; its own terms govern its features. This public document does not specify a Magnus variant, promise LTF, or grant every joining benefit. Replacement-offer terms, clauses 1–8.

Axis’s Vistara Infinite page says the card will stop supporting spends after 31 October 2026. That is a spending cutoff for the old card, not evidence of your offer’s acceptance deadline. Official Vistara Infinite notice.

Standard terms provide a baseline. The bank’s written offer establishes an individual entitlement.

First identify the exact Magnus

Standard fee baselineMagnusMagnus for Burgundy
Joining fee₹12,500 + applicable taxes₹30,000 + applicable taxes
Annual fee₹12,500 + applicable taxes₹30,000 + applicable taxes
Spend-based annual waiver₹25 lakh eligible spend in preceding card anniversary year₹30 lakh eligible spend in preceding card anniversary year

Standard paid-card baselines, not a quote for a targeted replacement. The Burgundy variant requires the relevant Burgundy relationship. Read the recipient offer for any override. MITC, fee table page 5 and footnotes pages 9–10.

One phrase can change the second-year cost

Illustration only: assume standard Magnus, a written first-year-free offer, no continuing waiver, no applicable renewal-spend waiver and an assumed GST rate of 18%. The next annual charge would be:

₹12,500 fee + (₹12,500 × 18% tax) = ₹14,750

This is not a prediction of any recipient’s bill. A first-year waiver, an annual spend waiver and LTF are different arrangements. If the offer says “fee reversal”, establish whether the fee is first charged, when it is credited, and how associated taxes are handled. The public replacement document does not settle those details.

Keep the reward clocks separate

The 20 June 2025 terms for both variants use a calendar month: 12 EDGE points per ₹200 on eligible spend up to ₹1.5 lakh, then 35 per ₹200 up to cumulative spend equal to the assigned permanent credit limit plus ₹1.5 lakh; the rate then returns to 12. Temporary limit increases do not lift that reward ceiling. These rules do not permit spending beyond available credit. Magnus revision, Burgundy revision.

That monthly reward clock is separate from the card anniversary year for annual-fee-waiver spending. Do not assume a statement date resets either one. Ask for the replacement card’s actual anniversary date and whether any old-card spending counts.

Rewards are not earned on every payment. The June 2025 terms exclude categories including utilities/telecom, wallets, government payments, insurance, gold/jewellery, fuel, cash advances and repayments; their rent wording needs careful reading rather than a general “rent earns” claim. From 28 August 2026, gift cards remain excluded and are separately classified; bridge fees, road fees and tolls also earn no rewards. EMI conversions, reversals, fees and taxes have additional treatment in the MITC. Magnus August revision, Burgundy August revision.

Before accepting: save answers to these six questions

  1. Which card and which deadline? Save the exact variant name, recipient eligibility, acceptance deadline, issuance date and the bank’s method of counting the first-transaction window.
  2. Which fees are waived? Ask whether joining and every future annual fee are both waived, whether relationship conditions continue, and what could end the waiver. LTF does not waive interest, late fees or other transaction charges.
  3. Do welcome benefits apply to this replacement? Obtain the specific voucher amount, qualifying spend/payment condition, issue window, expiry and redemption restrictions. Do not treat a headline product-page voucher as an entitlement for a fee-waived upgrade.
  4. What survives from Vistara? Get written treatment of existing airline points, already-earned vouchers, unposted spending, refunds and pending milestone benefits, including each expiry. The public replacement terms do not resolve those individual balances or their carryover.
  5. How do transfer and lounge limits work? Confirm the exact card’s current transfer ratio, chosen partner’s live eligibility, group cap, prior usage and reset date. Historical partner lists include changed brands, so we are not presenting them as today’s availability. Do not assume the lounge grace period for a newly issued additional card applies to an upgrade: the 2024 terms distinguish them. Magnus terms, Burgundy terms.
  6. What changes operationally? Confirm old-card closure timing, outstanding balances, EMIs, auto-debits, merchant subscriptions and refunds. Make a list of recurring payments and check each mandate’s migration rather than assuming continuity.

Use the public terms to frame the questions. Use the bank’s written offer addressed to you to establish your entitlement. This article makes no universal eligibility, savings or approval claim and is not an instruction to apply for, replace or cancel a card.

Sources, date and what remains unverified

Official sources were read on 21 October 2026. The replacement PDF is undated. No recipient-specific offer communication was supplied. Individual lifetime-free status, welcome-voucher eligibility, acceptance expiry and balance or voucher carryover remain unverified. Current partner-level transfer terms need a fresh check before any transfer example is published.

The fee example assumes 18% GST solely to show the arithmetic. It is not an individual bill or a promise of a reversal. Changes dated 15 November 2026 are not presented as already effective. The salary-route document has its own eligibility wording and cannot decide Vistara replacement eligibility.
